It�s good news for Rajasthan and for India. Resplendent Hill Forts of Rajasthan have been inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Site for their cultural significance. Rajasthan is an already popular tourist hotspot among global wanderers and tourists. Main appeal of the state lies in its culture, heritage, landscape and wildlife. The Hill Forts which have been inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Site are Chittorgarh, Amber Fort, Kumbhalgarh, Jaisalmer, Ranthambore and Gagron hill forts.
The reason for there inscription include:
- Advanced building techniques
- Distinctive relation with Rajput courtly life
- Supreme manifestations of secular Hindu Rajput architecture
- Exceptional topography
- Technological adaptation to exploit wealth of natural resources
All this forts are already popular tourist places in Rajasthan but their inclusion will now mean that besides influx of more tourists, they will be maintained in a better and thoughtful way so as to preserve their integrity and heritage for generations to come.
Others include Honghe Hani Rice Terraces, China, Mount Fuji, Japan, Agadez, Niger, Levuka, Fiji, Red Bay Basque Whaling Station, Canada, University of Coimbra, Portugal, Tserkvas of the Carpathian Region, Poland and Ukraine, Al Zubarah, Qatar in the Cultural category.
And in the natural category; El Pinacate Biosphere Reserve, Mexico, Mount Etna, Italy, Namib Sand Desert, Namibia, Xinjiang Tianshan, China and Tajik National Park, Tajikistan.
